He graduated from Concordia College of Moorhead in 1968 and attended Luther Seminary in St. Paul. Jon, a Clay County Commissioner since 1995, also coordinates the Rural Life Outreach program in Northwest and West Central MN and serves on numerous boards related to county government, rural and farm issues, and sustainable communities. |

She is the manager of the Red Lake Wildlife Management Area which is located within the Beltrami Island State Forest and is the largest WMA in the state. She has a B.S. in wildlife biology from the University of Minnesota. Gretchen, her husband Jeff, and son Joshua live at Norris Camp which is an intact CCC camp left over from the Great Depression. Historical preservation and interpretation as well as environmental stewardship are major interests for her. She enjoys hunting, reading, cross-country skiing, fishing, and canoeing. Gretchen is active in her church and does many educational activities in the Lake of the Woods area. |

Degree in Wildlife Management from the University of Maine, Orono, 1973. She has worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for 29 years, beginning as a Fish Biologist in New England. She transferred to the National Wildlife Refuge System in 1977 and has worked on six refuges in Maine, Iowa/Wisconscin/Minnesota border, Michigan, Montana and Minnesota. Currently she is manager of the Agassiz NWR in Middle River, MN. She has had the priveldge to live in some of the most beautiful areas of the United States, rich with natural resources, working on a variety of creatures from mysterious seabirds to majestic moose. She is committed to environmental education and Partnerships that strengthen support and understanding for our nations wildlife treasures. Maggie is married, has 3 teenaged sons, and the entire family is involved in a variety of activities in Thief River Falls. |

Employed by the Minnesota Office of Tourism since November of 1989, Mr. Bergman is responsible for working with communities and tourism promotion organizations in thirteen counties in Northwestern and Western Minnesota. Prior to joining the Office of Tourism, Mr. Bergman was employed by Sugar Hills and Lodge, near Grand Rapids, Minnesota, as the Director of Operations. Dave is leaving the board of the NW RSDP and has offered some thoughts about his work within the Northwest Partnership. "I have met a group of caring and dedicated individuals that want to see a better N.W. Minnesota and are willing to work together to see that end." He would like to see continued tourism research done and adds that he would "prefer to see projects identified and intiated by communities." "The Partnership then can bring its assests to bear on the project, only in this way, can the Partnership be successful." Dave concludes that he really enjoyed his time on the Northwest Partnership and wishes to thank Linda Kingery and the other board members for making it a special time. He plans to continue an interaction with the organization into the future. Thank you Dave for your service! |

She was program director of the Reproductive Health Unit. Other positions in her nursing career include staff development coordinator and medical/surgical staff nurse. Celine servied in the Gulf War with the 311th USAR unit of Fargo. Active duty was served in the United Arab Emerits. She retired from the reserves. Community involvement includes various organization and now center around church and social groups. Hobbies are quilting, golfing, playing bridge and travel. She is married and is mother of two daughers, and grandmother of three. |

Currently, she is the Administrator for Quin Community Health Services in Newfolden, MN, which involves grants management and coordinating the WIC program for Kittson, Marshall, Roseau, Pennington and Red Lake counties. Kristin has been involved with watershed education work in the Red River Valley and formerly worked at the Minnesota Senate as the administrator of the Environment and Natural Resources and Agriculture Budget Committee. She has also served on the Citizen's Advisory Committee of the LCMR (Legislative Commission on Minnesota Resources) and is the current chair of the Hallock Library Board. She also serves on the board of the League of Conservation Voters Education Fund. Kristin lives in Hallock with her husband, Paul Blomquist, and two young sons. They are active in politics, economic development, promoting local and organic foods and enjoy travelling. |

Box 1573 Crookston, MN 56716 | Amy Schwartz serves as the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Student Representative for the Partnership Board. She is currently studying Agronomy at UMC as a senior and will graduate in May 2008. At UMC she is a participant in the Crops Judging Team, the President of the Agronomy Club and the Student Coordinator for NACTA (North American College Teachers Association) Competition. During the past four summers she has worked in the agriculture industry as a crop scout/intern agronomist in Sauk Rapids, Greenbush, Sauk Centre and Roseau. She enjoys attending agriculture conferences and conventions throughout the winter as her class schedule allows. Amy grew up on a crop production farm in central Minnesota, just northwest of Monticello. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, golf, cooking and spending time with family and friends |

She has been involved in natural resource management and community development in the Red River Basin since 1992. An advocate for citizen initiatives, she uses a consensus building process to strengthen and broaden the voices of the people. Linda received Master of Science in Environmental Studies from Bemidji State University in 1998, and her Bachelors Degree in 1984. She worked as instructor in the Science department at BSU where she developed Science, Technology and Society units. Prior to her current position, she developed and managed public infrastructure and watershed restoration projects for the Red River Regional Council. Linda, her husband Brad, and 4 children enjoy the prairies, forests, lakes and rivers of northwest Minnesota. |

He is the retired CEO of Riverview Healthcare Association in Crookston where he worked for 28 years. Currently he is a Healthcare consultant for Krause-Anderson.Construction Company and does other health care consulting. He has served on a number of boards related to healthcare, education and economic development and is involved with community organizations and volunteerism. In a recent survey of board members, Tom shared some of his thoughts on the future direction and priorities for the NW RSDP. "I serve as I believe my background in health care, economic development and other areas can benefit the Partnership and the region." Tom is very interested in the "Healthy Local Foods" movement; Healthy, Sustainable Businesses in our communities which includes agriculture; and work toward a Healthy, Sustainable Ecosystem in the region that also extends statewide. He suggests three long-range goals for the NW RSDP. 1. Increase the health and sustainability of the rural communities in northwestern Minnesota by connecting the citizens and the University of Minnesota. 2. Increase awareness of the citizens to the needs of the environment to remain healthy and sustainable. 3. To help the citizens of the area understand each others needs so they can work together to improve the health and sustainability of the region. Tom firmly supports the mission of the NW RSDP, to connect and enhance resources of the region and the University of Minnesota, to develop a sustainable regional community, by educating and empowering citizens to explore and act on their ideas. |

His primary areas of research responsibility include planning and implementing programs that develop applied and basic information contributing to sustainable cropping systems in northwest Minnesota. A Minnesota native, he has lived 5 years in developing countries in Africa working with the Peace Corps and USAID, as well as 5 years in South Carolina with Clemson University as a research/extension agronomist. He came to the University of Minnesota in 1995, and spent the first 5 years at the Southwest Research and Outreach Center near Lamberton before coming to the St. Paul campus in 2000. He has been an active volunteer in the communities where he has lived, serving on the school board and in service organizations. In addition to research, he teaches agronomy courses at the University. |

He started as a soil scientist developing county soil surveys and ended up as a District Conservationist managing a county office. In 2000, he went into the native grass and wildflower seed producing business near Halma, MN. Mike, his wife Tara, and daughter Serena enjoy living in the rural area of Northwest Minnesota. |

Marty Sieve is program director with the Northwest Minnesota Foundation, where he has been employed since 1991. During the 1980s, he served as executive director of the Northwest Nebraska Community Action Council. He received a BA in philosophy from the University of Minnesota in 1975, and graduated from Worthington Senior High School in 1971. Raised on a grain and dairy farm, he likes to spend time outdoors with his wife of 29 years. |

He attended Iowa State University in Ames IA and received his BS, MS, and PhD degrees in agricultural engineering. While finishing his degrees at Iowa State, he was involved in teaching, research, and extension programs in grain drying and storage, and in alternative energy sources for agriculture. After graduation from Iowa State, he worked as an extension post-harvest technology specialist at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg VA for three and a half years. In 1989, he moved to St Paul MN to take a University of Minnesota extension and research position in post-harvest technology. Besides working with crop drying and storage, Bill also works with sustainable agriculture. He has served as the University of Minnesota Extension Service coordinator for professional development programs in sustainable agriculture since 1996 and he served as the acting administrator for the Minnesota Institute for Sustainable Agriculture (MISA) from 2000 to 2002. Starting July 2002, Bill took on a half-time role as the Regional Coordinator for the USDA-funded North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (NCRSARE) Program, which is housed at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. Bill is located in St. Paul MN and works half time for the University of Minnesota as an Extension specialist and half time for the NCRSARE program. |
