Participants in the Natural Resources Roundtable include representatives of state and federal resource management agencies, watershed and basin scale organizations, natural resources faculty, citizen leaders and students majoring in water resources. The agenda for the day included three purposes:

  • Describe the desired future of the region from the perspective of enhancing natural resources.
  • Gain a broad understanding of areas of agreement/disagreement in the sciences, and explore opportunities for the integration of the natural and social sciences.
  • Identify actions the NWP (and other partners) can take to work towards desired future.

The Integrated Resource Management class, 35 undergraduate students from UMC, participated in a Service Learning project associated with the Roundtable. One group of students recorded and categorized areas of agreement. Another group recorded and categorized areas of "disagreement". Each student prepared a short essay on a topic from their list. Highlights of the ideas from the essay are included in a later section of the summary.
